How to install the PostPilot Web Pixel in your Shopify store
You can target anonymous visitors to your site using our PostPilot Web Pixel.
This guide is for standard Shopify stores. If your store isn't on Shopify, or your storefront is headless (built on Shopify Hydrogen), use How to Install the Pixel Using Theme Code or Google Tag Manager instead.
The Web Pixel installs itself once your store is ready. You may only need to approve two Shopify permissions.
Note: PostPilot can only identify site visitors located in the US.
Step 1: Open the PostPilot Tracker page
- Login to PostPilot and click Integrations.
- Click Manage under PostPilot Tracker.

Your store's card lists three setup steps under Set up the PostPilot Web Pixel. Each one checks off on its own.
Step 2: Approve the new Shopify permissions
You only need this step if you connected your store before September 11, 2026.
- On the Approve new Shopify permissions step, click Reconnect Shopify.
- On Shopify's permissions screen, approve managing web pixels and viewing customer storefront events.
- Shopify brings you back to PostPilot.
Step 3: Let the Web Pixel install
There's nothing to click. Once permissions are approved, PostPilot installs the Web Pixel automatically. The last step shows Installing now, then Web Pixel installed with the install date. The pixel loads in the background.
Confirm tracking is active
The Tracking status at the top of your store's card shows whether PostPilot is receiving site activity:
-
Web Pixel installed. Waiting for the first event: Click Open storefront and view a product to speed this up.
-
First event received: The pixel is working. The badge changes to Tracking active after the next day's data arrives.
-
Tracking active: You're all set.
Visitor data can take up to 24-48 hours to fully sync.
If your store can't use the Web Pixel yet
If your card says This store can't use the Web Pixel yet, PostPilot couldn't confirm that your store runs a standard Shopify theme. This can happen while your store is password-protected. Remove the password page, then click Check again.
If the message stays, use the theme script shown below it, following How to Install the Pixel Using Theme Code or Google Tag Manager.
